Overview

This manual explains the temporary reset procedure used in BUDS diagnostic software to initialize a digital instrument cluster configured as a service component.
The guide describes the correct programming sequence, ECM synchronization requirements and firmware flashing process required to restore proper vehicle communication.

The instructions are intended for professional technicians servicing BRP vehicles equipped with digital display clusters.

The cluster reset procedure is required when a digital display module is installed as a replacement component or when the instrument cluster contains incorrect vehicle configuration data.
This situation may occur when clusters from other product lines are used due to delayed component supply campaigns.

Before starting the reset process, technicians must ensure that the latest version of BUDS software is installed and that the diagnostic interface is properly connected to the vehicle.
The correct ECM configuration must be programmed first, as the cluster depends on engine module data to determine the appropriate firmware package.

During initialization, the ECM must be placed in boot mode and flashed to the latest available configuration.
After completing ECM programming, the vehicle should be rescanned to allow the cluster tab to display the flashing indicator symbol.

The reset function is located in the system settings section under the service tools menu.
By selecting the “Reset cluster as service part” option, the software initiates a download process that prepares the module for reconfiguration.

Once the reset sequence is completed, the technician must rescan the vehicle and proceed to the firmware flashing stage.
The correct cluster software update must be selected from the flash tab, after which the programming process begins.

After flashing is finished, it may be necessary to synchronize VIN numbers and model identification data between the cluster and ECM modules.
If the cluster is not in boot mode or the SKU is missing, the ECM must be programmed again and the correct model number entered manually before repeating the scan procedure.

This workflow ensures proper communication between vehicle control modules and prevents configuration mismatch errors during diagnostic or firmware update operations.
